the hangover before christmas

December 24, 2006

ive had enough Mai Tai's and Margaritas to last me a lifetime (well for 6 months, atleast). i know that each glass contains a few ounces of rum and tequila, but multiply that to atleast 5-6 glasses (that will be around 10-12 glasses of Mai Tai's and Margaritas) and a random beer or two and you get a humongous hangover the next day.

the next day is now, at 9 in the morning, in front of my office PC.

ive never had beer and cigarette in over a year, only except for the occasional cocktail drink that only happens atleast once every 2-3 months. that's how pathetic ive become because of work. but deep inside, its the mature side of me tired of all the partying ive been so comfortable with during my college days that kept me a good distance away from getting drunk and lying comatose in bed the next day.

but last night was different. my Be's closes friends came all the way here in baguio from manila to spend a night with him. a night of get-together with an old friend they haven't seen in over a year. they braved migraine inducing ttraffic in Pangasinan and spend a night before christmas. who am i to say no? we went to Legarda, where i used to go every weekend of my college life (that was like eons ago!) to party the terrible week of scholastic horror ive been through. stepping out of the car, i felt nostalgia and goosebumps. ive never been in that place for so long that its no longer baguio's little Malate (party animals migrated to Nevada Square).

anyway, it started with a Mai Tai and another and another…it felt so good i totally blacked out and forgot i had to come to work the next day.

so right now, its the 24th of december and while everybody else is rushing to buy last-minute gifts and noche buena add-ons, im here blogging on my office PC while nursing a hangover that ive never felt in 2 years.

and damn, it felt good.
