mandatory weekly ranting
December 20, 2006i had a 1-hour call that drove me nuts. my customer just found out that (through microsoft's automatic update hoo-la-la) her internet explorer was suddenly upgraded to the the latest version 7.0! problem is, Internet Explorer 7.0 has countless flaws and its giving us endless migraines with customers calling in because their explorer won't open websites or the toolbars are missing and all that. now, my customer's toolbars, i repeat, TOOLBARS are nada on her explorer. she has no address bar or even the standard bar. it took me an more than an hour trying to access her computer through Remote Acess and after i was able to view her Desktop and ready to try my hand configuring the explorer 7.0 she suddenly decides that she's just gonna callback. argh.
Note to everyone: DO NOT, i repeat, DO NOT UNDER ANY CHANCE UPGRADE YOUR BROWSERS TO INTERNET EXPLORER 7.0. well not for now, anyway, because its still not perfect. if you don't want your page to freeze or if you don't want to experience endless minutes watching the hour glass blink on and off your screen only to give you a page saying CANNOT FIND SERVER after, then DO NOT upgrade to 7.0. yet.
moving on, there was another incident here at the office that both annoyed and irritated me and one of my crazy officemates, Ryan. well thing is, by 4 pm onwards there's only the two of us left at our bay. most of our officemates have either logged out or coming later in the evening. the last few hours of my shift is dedicated surfing the net and chatting and watching videos at youtube or just kulitan with Ryan. lately, an HR employee makes use of the free space around us to interview some applicants. it so happened today that the HR employee who did the interviews today was highly maarte and mafeeling and speaks with this heavy slang attached to her sentences. i mean, give me a break. you're speaking with hopeful applicants who are surely terrified to be declined any position in the company if they don't try to speak like they've lived in the U.S.A. since they were 3 and just came to Pinas to waggle their american accents/slang to everyone who dare speak to them. so what happened is that we were at full force with our kulitan when she suddenly gets our attention and tells us to shut up (well not really shut up, but you get what im saying). i was miffed. i g-talked Ryan rightaway with this:
"pakialamera, pag auto in mo nga yan nang magamit naman nya pinagmamalaki nyang ENGLISH SLANG! sa mga sira-ulo nating customers!"
okay, ranting over.
