hell week

November 23, 2006

its been a loooooooooooong week. and that, is even an understatement.

my week here at works starts on a sunday (yes, i know it sounds like it sucks but its all cool cuz my off is on fridays and saturdays) and it was a good start. not much calls coming in. i practically breezed through the whole shift. then came monday.

ever since my schedule was shifted to 9:30AM, Be no longer hears my endless ranting and im-so-tired drama which has become my daily routine 6 months after i started working for this company. i mean, i come to work on a normal office hour and not worry about grabbing a cab and not being raped by a taxi driver at 3 in the morning!

so, last monday i came in and ready to start my day at the office when a horrifying news hit me in the eye: 250 calls waiting! just the sight of that figure had me wanting to crawl back to bed and vanish. 250 calls waiting! are you kidding me? i mean, we are understaffed right now at the office. not much agents especially in the morning shift since lesser customers call in the morning. but it was way past 10AM already and the queue didn't budge an inch. according to our supervisors, we have big problems with our servers. our customers either experience slow (as in slower than dial-up) DSL speed, be redirected to certain sites or cannot navigate to any websites at all. everybody knows how dependent americans are with their internet and those 250 customers are the ones from our Residential department only so they perfectly understood that its not our fault our servers are down and most of them are willing to wait until after 24-48 hours for it to be fixed since they only use their DSL to chat or go to ebay or check their mail or update their myspace accounts. but imagine our Business customers? those whose establishments depend on the internet? beyond that 250 customers waiting on the line, im glad im able to explain carefully to a housewife or a grandfather or a son that our servers are down and most of them understood me perfectly and hung up peacefully without asking for my supervisor. for a moment there, i was glad i don't need to deal with aggravated business customers whose businesses were paralyzed due to that srver problem we had.

after my monday shift, i went home wanting to die.

tuesday was the same scenario. as was wednesday.

thursday was a relief. it was Thanksgiving in the United States so they're busy preparing their turkeys.

what a week.

and to compensate with the horrible week i had, my weekend was meticulously planned with me doing nothing but lie in bed until god knows what and then attach myself to our couch and watch dvd's all day. yeah, in my pajammies, my hair unwashed and the coffee maker turned on to give me endless supply of freshly brewed coffee.
