stories from vacation land
July 5, 2006got back to work yesterday after being on vacation leave for 5 days and i already feel stumped. but since im already on day shift, i don’t feel as conked out compared to when i was coming to work at 10 in the evening. i actually don’t feel like its the end of the world on our way back to baguio, the way i always feel after a 2 or 3-day short leave. aaahhh…the happiness of being on a day shift…anyway, enough of that blah because this post is supposed to be about my 5-day vacation leave!
so. i decided to use peechures to tell the story of my short-lived, fun-filled and food-fest vacation i had. here goes craziness…
it all started on a trip to korea….naahhh this was taken infront of the korean english boarding school near our apartment while we were waiting for a taxi to take us to the bus terminal…this was about 1 in the morning.

we finally arrive in pampanga! well, long story short: geebee decided we do our own version of the Amazing Race, thus, instead of informing his mom and dad where we are he just nonchantly told them that we’ll find our way to his lola’s house… on our own. we arrived at Dau at about 5:30 in the morning and waited for about 15 minutes while geebee figured out where we’d get our next ride. after asking 2 bus conductors, a barbeque vendor and 2 policemen, we were directed to a mini (and mini is an understatement!) bus that is supposed to be bound to san fernando, pampanga and is supposed to drop us somewhere where we’d get a ride to calumpit. so we get inside the very mini bus and travelled for a good 30 mins or so. we then jogged (jogging or running is the Amazing Race way to get a ride) to a waiting Victory bus that will drop us to our next stop. so, after another 30 mins or so, i find myself staring at our next ride: a tricycle that looks like it will fall apart anytime and that’s when we decided to take a picture. 3 bus rides and a tricycle ride…i will never ever tolerate geebee again the next time he decides not to let any of his relatives fetch us, especially when i found out from his dad that if only he’d informed them, they’ve would’ve fetched us at Dau!

the moment we arrived at his lola’s house, the first thing we did was…EAT. oh yes, there were lots and lots of food that we did not bother to take any pictures. we just ate. it was pure gluttony. and with all the food we stuffed ourselves with, a nap would be the next best thing. but just as i was feeling the softness of the bed and the pillows, there was a loud banging and shouting outside the house. i peeked at the window and within a minute, i dashed outside and joined the riot in the streets. these are just some of the pictures:

so as you can see we had tons of fun. it was their town’s fiesta and its too bad we missed the procession the day before we arrived. but the streetdancing thingy was amazing…there was so much energy and music and dancing! we had lots more pictures but im just gonna post them next time (still waiting for geebee’s brother to email them to me).
so, the rest of the afternoon was spent karaoke-singing at geebee’s uncle’s garage (his uncle rented a karaoke machine, y’know the huge wooden type where you have to punch in the number of the song you want to belt out). geebee was the star and i was the punch-girl (he made me punch in the songs he wants to sing, besides he is really the singer not me so i just contected my self watching him sing his heart out).
we had another bountiful time at dinner, another round of karaoke then off we went for some rides. all you folks in the provinces would be familiar with peryahan, a place where you throw away your coins to get more coins, throw away your coins in excahnge for candy or chocolates…well its a place where you practically gamble away what’s left of your coin purse to have a moment of pure, childish fun. but i did not do any of that, instead i dragged geebee and his cousin jessica to the rides. i passed the ferris wheel (because i was so full i might throw up), and went straight for the caterpillar ride. it was hilarious. we were laughing all throughout the ride. i haven’t had a ride in almost 10 years and that was amazing! (10 years? what was i doing for the past 10 years???). anyway here’s a picture before the ride started:

anyway enough for now with our pampanga trip or this post will end up looking like a photo album. i do have another picture when we went home to manila (there were stuff i had to buy) before going back to baguio. well with all the traffic going on, i practically whined to have a kalesa ride to our next destination. well this is my first kalesa ride after 4 years (ha! the last time was in vigan) so it deserves a picture. i know, you can’t even see my face, but beats me cuz its still a kalesa pic.

another picture while riding the kalesa, while stuck in traffic (oh yes, horses get stuck in traffics too).

okay, enough for now. il just post more pictures next time. im at work right now and i was just trying to squeeze in my blogging…hehe…
